NJAJ is committed not only to the preservation of the right to a trial by jury and to civil justice in New Jersey, but also to advancing and expressing the diversity of its membership in our advocacy, outreach and educational efforts.

To this end, NJAJ has adopted the following diversity policy which shall pertain to educational programs.

We are asking each existing member, and each new member, to voluntarily identify whether or not they fall into any one or more of the following categories listed below.

The purpose of this information is limited solely to making sure that we express the diversity of our membership in our educational and other outreach programs.  It is for internal use only.

The NJAJ Educational Foundation and Executive Committee have adopted the following policy:

"It is the policy of NJAJ to affirmatively seek and encourage the participation of minorities and women in all educational programs. To that end, no program may be approved unless at least one woman and one minority is included among the recommended faculty, except for good cause."

The categories of minorities are listed below.  The goal of this policy is to increase and enhance the ability of NJAJ to reach out with, and communicate with, not only its increasingly diverse membership, but with the diversity of the public we serve.

Rest assured that this information will be retained at headquarters solely for the use of diversity outreach and diversity efforts and to assure that we follow these policies for our educational and outreach programs.

You need not report your status if you do not wish to do so and the information will be used for no other purpose.  We are asking existing members to supply this information and we will be asking new members to consider voluntarily supplying this information as well.

Thank you very much for entrusting this information to our care. I hope that you understand this effort is designed to be consistent not only with the ideals of our organization and of the causes that we serve, but also with the continued vitality, growth and health of our organization now and into the future.

The ethnic and racial categories below come from the United States Census Bureau.  We have added the categories of "disabled," "LGBT" and "female" to increase our level of diversity.
